Wood Burning Stove Installation in Harold Hill
Harold Hill is a large post-war residential area on the north east edge of Romford, with predominantly 1950s and 1960s housing stock. Properties across Harold Hill tend to have original chimney breasts still in place — the fireplaces may have been converted to gas fires or simply fallen out of use, but the chimney structure above is typically intact. This makes Harold Hill solid stove installation territory: the infrastructure is there, it just needs assessing, testing and lining before a modern appliance can go in.
Full conversions from gas fireplaces and straight installs into serviceable existing chimney stacks are the most common job types in Harold Hill. The post-war housing here also sees a steady number of rear extension twin wall installations as homeowners extend and improve their properties. If the extension was built without a chimney, a twin wall insulated flue system provides the complete flue route from stove to above roof level — we have a roofer available to handle any roof penetration.

HETAS Certified Since 2003
Harold Hill covers a range of job types — new installs, full conversions, and occasionally something outside the standard brief. The Charnwood almond respray on this page is an example: an existing stove resprayed professionally before going back in. Craig has been HETAS certified since 2003, company 6943, installer 23592. Three generations in the trade means the scope of knowledge goes beyond new installations — it covers restoration, refurbishment and the kind of problem that most installers will not touch.

Stove Installation FAQ
My Harold Hill property has a gas fire. Can you remove it and install a wood burning stove?
Yes — this is a standard modified installation. We coordinate a Gas Safe engineer to disconnect and cap the gas supply before we attend site. Once the gas is made safe, we remove the gas appliance, assess the opening and chimney, install a 125mm stainless steel liner and register plate, connect and commission the stove. HETAS certification issued on completion. You do not need to find your own Gas Safe engineer — we handle that.
Can I have a stove in my Harold Hill extension with no chimney?
Yes. A rear extension with no existing chimney is exactly the scenario twin wall insulated flue systems are designed for. The 125mm G50-rated twin wall flue rises from the stove through the ceiling and flat roof, terminating above roof level with a solid fuel cowl. Best installed during the build, but fully retrofittable through a finished ceiling and roof. We have a roofer available for the penetration and weathering.
